Engine

Subscription mode runs the claude CLI logged in on this server (like the dnavisualytics worker). It applies to admin accounts only, since a personal Claude plan is for your own use. Everyone else always uses the API key. If the CLI fails, hits its usage limit or is slow to answer, the API takes over automatically.

Claude API

Stored encrypted on the server and never sent to browsers. Leave the masked value as-is to keep the current key.

Hearing (how Kina listens)

With Deepgram, the app records the mic itself with echo cancellation and streams it through the server. Kina keeps listening while it speaks, so you can interrupt and correct it like a person. Deepgram decides when you've finished from meaning and tone, not just silence. If it's unavailable, the app falls back to browser speech.

Voice (how Kina sounds)

Keys are stored encrypted. Each person can pick their own voice in Settings. If the provider fails, Kina falls back to device voices for that sentence.
